The idea for Nammu came from a real need that wasn’t addressed in the marketplace.

A Mother’s Search for Sun Protection

As a mother of three active children who loved to swim from a young age, I searched for a UV protective swim cap to protect their heads from the sun while in and around the pool.

Challenges with Regular Hats and Swim Caps

Regular baseball caps or hats wouldn’t work as they aren’t waterproof and aren’t suitable for swimming. They would fall off at water parks or splash pads. Regular swim caps didn’t appeal to my children because they didn’t look “cool.”

My eldest child has a brown beauty mark on his head, making sun exposure dangerous. After trying many types of hats and searching exhaustively, I realized no suitable product existed. I was determined to find a solution.

The Birth of the Nammu Swimming Hats Idea

Everywhere we went—swimming pools, water parks, water slides, or splash pads—I noticed most children wore UV-protected swimsuits, shirts, and shorts, but not hats.

That’s when I came up with the idea for Nammu. Why not use the same UV protection material used for other outdoor attire to make a cool, stylish, functional, and comfortable swim cap that wouldn’t fall off in the water? And thus, the idea of Nammu was born.
